The 1960s/1970s
Jigsaws

Four jigsaws puzzles were available in the UK, made by Waddington. Apparently the same jigsaws were available in New Zealand from Holdson (who were also behind the NZ releases of Waddington's Captain Scarlet And The Mysterons jigsaw puzzles).

The most common Joe 90 jigsaw puzzles were obviously aimed at the younger market with just 81 large pieces, although 250 piece versions were also available.

* The jigsaws are not actually numbered, and in fact all have the same stock number: 585.

Jigsaw 4

In Japan, Koide Shinkosha followed on from their Stingray, Thunderbirds and Captain Scarlet And The Mysterons puzzles with a rather nice Joe 90 one.

Colour artwork featuring Joe brandishing his gun and communicator in front of the cottage. Sam stands by his car as Mac's car flies overhead.

The 33 pieces are not fully interlocking like a "standard" jigsaw puzzle but instead fit into a tray, the surround of which forms the border to the puzzle. The pieces are rather large and very thick - the tray itself is ¼" thick! And there are a couple of pieces shaped like a car and Joe's special glasses.

Size 14¾" x 9¾" (37.5 x 24.8 cm), price ¥150.
