Sweet Cigarettes

Primrose Sweet Cigarettes box

JOE 90 SWEET CIGARETTES
© 1968 ASSOCIATED TELEVISION (OVERSEAS) LTD.

Manufactured by the Primrose Confectionery Company Ltd. in Slough (close to the Century 21 studios). Each pack came with a cut-out W.I.N. badge on the back, and a collectors card inside along with the nicotine-free sugary goodies.

The complete set was comprised of 50 cards, each one 2 1/2" x 1 3/8" (64mm x 34mm), and were all sourced from photographs. On the back was a brief description of the image, and instructions on how to send away for a "Super Joe 90 Picture Card Album" to keep the cards in.

The cards were later re-issued on much thinner stock (more like paper really - about half as thick as the first issue), and with the picture card album offer omitted.

Made and Printed in England.

Original release (L) and later release (R)

Primrose Picture Card Album - front Primrose Picture Card Album - inside The Picture Card Album followed a similar design to the sweet cigarette packet. It had twenty pages and measured 8 3/16" by 3 5/16", with room for three cards per page (two on the last page).

The album was only available in the UK via mail order and cost 1/3d.
